HLRN sites Berlin and Göttingen will be NHR centres
Based on a science led evaluation by the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) and the assessment of the NHR strategic council, the GWK (Gemeinsame Wissenschaftskonferenz) decided on the 13.11.2020 to sponsor eight compute centers as part of the “Nationales Hochleistungsrechnen” (NHR) initiative. Together with six other centers, both HLRN sites in Berlin and Göttingen will form the NHR alliance, which aims to fulfill the computational needs for the research conducted in all German universities. The hardware and operating costs of the NHR alliance of up to 62.5 million Euro will be jointly carried by the federal government and the states.
